U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS— Director Barbara Jackson-McIntosh would like to inform the motoring public that due to the extension of the Stay-at-Home order issued by Governor Albert Bryan Jr.; the bureau will only be serving customers by appointment only.  As Governor Bryan has instituted the Stay at Home phase in an effort mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles has implemented the following protocols:

• The bureau will only be serving customers by appointments only, Director McIntosh is requesting that customers do not come to the bureau until their appointment time. Customers will receive a reminder via text 30 minutes prior to their appointment and 2 minutes before they are required to come into the offices.
• All driver’s licenses and identification card services have resumed, customers must make an appointment online at bmv.vi.gov. Customers whose appointment was cancelled during the Stay-at Home order, the BMV will contact each customer to reschedule their appointment.
• Director McIntosh is encouraging the motoring public to take advantage of the bureau’s online vehicle registration process. During this period, the bureau will waive the requirement for inspection for any customer that renew their vehicle registration online. If customers need assistance in setting up an account or for technical assistance, please email the bureau at info@bmv.vi.gov. Customers are reminded to contact their insurance agency to email proof of insurance to the bureau at insurance@bmv.vi.gov.
• Inspection will continue to be waived for all private vehicles that are registered online until December 31, 2020. Regardless of the age of the vehicle, all vehicles can be registered online using the BMV E-Servicing system. Commercial vehicles must contact the bureau to make an appointment for inspection.
• All road tests and written test for the learner’s permit are cancelled until further notice.
• All driver’s licenses and identification cards that expires as of March 2020, will be extended for a period of 6 months from the expiration date.
